Goodbye 2011

2011....you have not been the greatest year in my life. Actually it's been a real struggle for me. After coming off such a high in 2010 working & living in Georgia, coming back home to Oregon not having a job or friends in the same stage of life as me has been extremely difficult. There have been way too many days where I only changed out of pjs right before my parents got home from work just so I wouldn't feel so pathetic, only to put them back on a couple hours later. I worked a temporary job at the local in zoo in Food Services in hopes that I would be able to move into the animal department, but who am I kidding that doesn't happen. I ended up choosing to leave that position because it wasn't what I wanted and I wasn't happy. However I am not happy not working either. My hopes and dreams growing up and through college have been constantly shattered as the years pass. I'm not so sure anymore what life is supposed to hold for me. This year I've complelely struggled with self image and my weight. I lost over 30 pounds while working/living in Georgia only to come back home to Oregon and put it all back on. I feel disgusted and completely sick with myself. If I don't love myself how is it even possible for a man to love me? It's not! 2011 has been rough on me emotionally. I've defanitely gone through some major life crisis'. I am pretty sure that I am depressed and I'm tired of it. Today is the last day of 2011 and it's the worst of all of them. I'm in such a funk and a rut that I don't know how I'm going to be civil when people come over tonight. I'll just have to pull on my big girl panties and try.

This brings me to 2012. I really REALLY hope beyond all hopes of doubt that this year is My year and that this year allows me to start living the life that I want to. I need to get past this depression and realize that my hopes and dreams are just going to have to change or I'm going to have to do something to make them change.

That first step is defanitely going to be working on my self. I need to work on getting off those 30 lbs plus some. I'm dedicating myself to making small goals each week versus making resoultions. I don't stick to resolutions and they are a waste of time for me. I've set a goal this week to work out every single day in some way. Whether it be going for a walk, a dvd, an abs workout, whatever. I'm going to commit to this this week and if I fall one day I'll start over until I get thru seven days of working out and then move onto the next goal.
As well as working on my fitness I need to work on my outer appearance. Because I don't feel good about myself it shows on the outside and I don't take care of myself. I'm going to make an effort to try new makeup and try looking presentable to feel better about myself. Even if I'm not leaving the house, I want to look good. Hopefully by looking better on the outside it will help inner confidence to get out and meet new people.

I am hoping that 2012 will bring me a step towards a career path. I'm going to a conference at the beginning of February and I'm going to try real hard to connect with people to get into a career that I will love. If nothing comes from that I will re-evaluate my career path and see if I need to give up on a childhood dream and find something more realistic.

I realize this is kind of a depressing post but I needed this to evaluate where I am in life right now. If anybody has gone thru years like this, your advice for overcoming is defanitely appreciated. All I know is I need help and change to get out of this funk before I spiral even further into a dragging whole.
Well here's to saying goodbye to 2011 and saying Hello to 2012 and the year of ME!

Love,
Heather

Recent Purchases

Hi Loves,
So I've been a busy little bee with the holiday season here. But I recently bought some great purchases that I wanted to update you all on. So here we go:

1. L'Oreal True Match Foundation
Pinned Image
I saw this foundation on one of Kandee Johnson's blogs/youtube videos. I've been looking for a new foundation and so I decided to give it a try. Girls it is so nice. Goes on really smooth and gives great coverage. Unfortunately the color I grabbed is a little too dark for me right now during the winter months so I'm going to get one shade lighter but I don't mind since it's so smooth feeling. You don't even notice it being on. If you're looking for something new, try it out.

2. Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer
I've seen all these reviews and blogs out there about Primers. I have never tried on before but while at Target I found this gem on clearance (makes me nervous they might close it out, hoping not). It's clear and smells kind of like shampoo. I tried this one out today. It doesn't take much for coverage. Seemed to help make my foundation last longer. I can't say about it minimizing pores because mine just aren't that large. But I am defanitely hooked after just one application. We will see as time progresses.

3. NYC Blushable Creme Stick in Plaza Pink
Found this gem via another youtube/blogger video by Beauty Broadcast. I love summer looks, where you skin just looks dewy and like you just came back from vacation. This blush does the trick. Glides on your cheeks and then blend it in. Gives that perfect back from vacation glow. Check it out!

4. Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil with Brazilian Nut and Almond Oils
I don't know about you girls but my skin during the fall/winter months gets so dry. So dry to the point where it hurts. I've pretty much tried everything to make it not so dry and crackly. Well enter this beauty. After the shower, take a little bit and rub it into your body (doesn't take much at all). It smells delicious (like on a tropical vacation) and it gives your skin a beautiful glow and helps moisturize. I love it.

5. EOS Lipbalms
While in Walgreens today I came across this lovely giftpack. I've never tried the EOS lipbalms but heard so much about it that I wanted to try them and what better than a three pack. Comes with Sweet Mint, Strawberry Sorbet, and Passion Fruit. They all smell delicious. I've been using the Sweet Mint all day and love it. Gives a little tingle when you put it on, which I love. Run out and grab this quick girls.

Well that's all I've found lately. Although tomorrow my Sephora order is supposed to arrive (woohoo). Hope the holiday season is going fabulous!

Happy Holidays,
Heather

2 Months to Christmas

This morning I woke up and realized that it's only 2 months until Christmas! Can you believe how fast this year has gone by. Now I love Christmas time. It's my favorite time of the year. The lights, the decorations, the warmth and happiness. I just love all of it. Today I was listening to clips from Michael Buble's new CD...
On first listen, it sounds like its a great CD. So as I was thinking about Christmas today I started to think about gifts. Now really the only people I have to buy gifts for currently are my parents. They already have everything. So I have no idea what to get for them this year. What kinds of things are on your lists to buy your parents? Maybe I can find some ideas. Well off to dinner. Have a good evening everyone!

Sports! Sports! Sports!

Sports! Sports! Sports!
So this topic has a little bit of irony to it. I'm from Oregon, we don't have major league sports (well except now we have the Timbers for soccer). I played softball when I was younger for 9 years, starting in t-ball and working my way up. Although once I hit high school I switched to dance team. There is where I lost my interest in sports for the most part. I didn't have a team that I routed for or anything. While in college, my boyfriend then was the student athletic trainer. He always asked me to come to his games he was working and I never really had interest in going. I went to a few, being a good girlfriend, but defanitely should've gone to more to be an even better girlfriend. Well the irony in the story is that now that we are no longer together (haven't been for 4 years) I am absolutely in love with Sports. Love me some football and baseball. I can't get enough and want to watch it all the time when it's on tv. I just find it hysterical. Now because we don't have sports teams, I get the leisure of picking the teams that I route for. My teams are Alabama (RollTide) and I love the Texas Rangers. So excited they are in the World Series and hoping that they win. It's on my tv everynight :) What got all y'all excited about sports? And what are your teams? How do you celebrate your teams? I would love to go to a game someday. Defanitely on my bucket list.
That's all for tonight! LET's GO RANGERS!!!!

I'm back

Long time no blog...I know. I kinda fell off the bandwagon for a while. Life has been pretty crazy with work and events. And then just my pure laziness. Ha. I've become completely addicted to Pinterest as well which has kept me more involved there versus blogging. But I'm making an effort to be back to it.

I've been struggling lately with motivation. I'm currently quite lost with myself. I've been out of college for over 2 years now and only worked a job for 6 months that I actually truely loved. I'm currently working at our local zoo but not in the department I would like and I'm tired of driving there (at least 40 minutes a day if not more to get there). I need something new but I don't know what I would like to do. There are so many jobs that fellow bloggers do out there that I think would be so fun but I have no idea how I would get started in them. I love travelling so I think it would be awesome to be in the travel industry. I love children so it would be great to work with children. I love animals, I love fashion, I love people. I just have no idea what I want to do with my life as far as a career goes.

I always thought that I would be a dolphin trainer growing up. However as I got older and wiser I learned this really wasn't going to be feasible for me and I've been quite lost ever since. I'm almost 27 and I still have no idea what to do with my life. For all you bloggies out there, how have you decided what career path to choose? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've also decided that I am utterly and completely in love with the south and wish I grew up there. The standards and morals of the south are just so great I wish I would've had the pleasure of having that instilled in me as I grew up. I may not have been born there but I'm hoping to move there someday in the future and raise my children (someday) there.

Well I've decided that it's time to start living life a little more as well. I've seen several blogs with lists of things they would like to do in life. I love me some lists. Ha. I will be 27 in February but I decided that was only a few short months to finish a list so I've developed a 28 before 28 list. Hopefully I can complete these things before more 28th birthday. I may end up even adding more since I love lists so much. Here's the list...

1. Find a job that makes me happy
2. Move out of my parents house
3. Get a new car
4. Get rid of unworn/unwanted clothes, shoes, accessories, and stuff
5. Buy tall boots that actually fit my calves (i danced so I have large calve muscles)
6. Train for a 5K
7. Run a 5K race...a Disney one would be fun :)
8. Lose the dreadful Muffin top
9. Go on some dates
10. Give up Diet Coke
11. Have a girls getaway weekend
12. Do 28 DIY crafts from Pinterest
13. Floss every day for at least a month (i'm really bad about flossing)
14. Do 15 situps every night for at least a month
15. Read the bible and do a study
16. Send "Just Because" cards to 5 friends
17. Become more southernly (that's a whole other list)
18. Dress more grown up/ladylike/professional/attractive
19. Put more time into makeup and Hair/myself
20. Become a wine drinker
21. Go wine tasting
22. Understand football
23. Ride a horse
24. Go back to the south: visit or move
25. Own more jewelry and wear it
26. Organize my life better
27. Enjoy where I live by exploring it
28. Read 10 books

Well there you go. I will do monthly check-ups to update y'all (picked that up when i lived in Georgia) on the status of my list. Here's my welcome back to blogging. Hopefully I can stay up with it and give this thing a pretty makeover :).

That's all for now Lovelies,
Heather

Show Us Your Life~Singles

The fabulous Kelly over at Kelly's Korner is hosting Show Us Your Life~Singles again. As per her post, SUYL has been very successful in setting up 7 couples! I would say that is pretty amazing and awesome. I've debated back and forth about creating a post about myself. I'm pretty much one of the last single people in my group of friends. Ha. Who knows if anything may come out of this but here goes nothing...

Hi, I'm Heather!

I'm 26 and currently live in Oregon. I've also lived in Hawaii for 4 years and Georgia for 7 months. I graduated from the University of Hawaii~Hilo with a Bachelor's in Marine Science and a Bachelor's in Psychology. My passion is working with marine animals or zoo animals. This passion took me to Georgia last summer where I worked with Sea Turtles and loved my job!
While living in Georgia I absoultely fell in love with the South. The food, the charm, and the hospitality. I'm pretty sure I will end up back in the south somewhere at some point.
Friends and Family mean everything to me. Without them, life just wouldn't be life. I can't wait to have a family of my own someday. Right now I'm practicing being the best Aunt I can be to my Best Friends two boys and soon to be daughter!
I absolutely Love to Travel! Every year my family travels down to Cabo for a vacation full of relaxation in the sun. I love travelling back to Hawaii to visit friends that are still living there. I travelled to Scotland, London, and Ireland after graduation but defanitely didn't see all and would love to go back. I even love travelling to Disney World!

I love to try new things and have exciting adventures. I may be shy in the beginning but once you get me opened up there's lots to Love. We will see what may come of this..haha. If you're interested or know someone who is just leave a comment and we will go from there.
Thanks Loves,
Heather

I'm Loving these adorable shoes from Jessica Simpson (or J. Simps as I call her)...I'm going out to Macy's today to see if I can find them
I'm Loving the kind of cooler weather today. I know sounds ridculous since it's summer but I have to be inside organizing things today and it makes me happy knowing I'm not missing out on Sun.

I'm Loving that I've gotten more into Blogging. It's so much fun and the blogging community is amazing!

I'm Loving this adorable dress I got from Target that I can now wear since it's summer.

26 going on 60

Do y'all ever feel like you are one age going on an age way older? Well if you haven't you're lucky. I feel like this all the time. Unfortunately at 26 my hair already has grey (eww) and I am growing a forest on my chin and and a mustache (thank goodness for waxing). Tonight I was so depressed as my Dad told me that he noticed it's time to wax again. I was so horrified. Please, please, please tell me this is semi normal to some of y'all and that I'm not alone. I feel like I've been so let down in the cuteness department and adding on all these extras way early doesn't help. Ha. I guess so people are just made to be beautiful and I was not chosen. Well I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow....Home Spa Day!!!

Weekend Update and Random Thoughts

Hi Loves,

So I'm sitting here watching the NBA Finals. Go MAVS!!! So this girly was never huge on sports but I've realized as I've gotten older that I like watching them and by watching them I then know what guys are talking about...ha.

This weekend was pretty uneventful in the fun sense of the word. The most exciting thing I did was go on a coffee date with a cousin on Friday. The rest of the weekend was filled with groceries and errands of the such.

However....this fabulous place....
Is having there Yellow Sale and I got some fabulous deals. Including 12 handsoaps and 3 car scents for $30 with a $10 off 40 purchase. I just love me some coupons and deals! Y'all should hit them up soon if you haven't. I might even go to another one tomorrow to look for more stuff :)

So I've officially jumped on the AngryBirds train and I'm completely addicted. It's to the point where I had to charge my phone twice yesterday cause I just couldn't put it down. I'm hoping this addiction doesn't last too long.

Today was quite a sad day :(. I found three pairs of shoes that I absolutely adored a Nordstrom Rack...

Exhibit A: Jessica Simpson Kingsley (I've been lusting over for months)
Exibit B: Sperry Top-Siders with a touch of Pink
Exhibit C: Super Cute Nike's

However, due to my last post...I decided I could not feasibly purchase these shoes until I finished replacing all that was stolen and paying for my trip :(. So sad to be a responsible adult when it comes to shoes. Well I guess if it's meant to be the shoes will still be there once all is figured out.

Well Loves,
That's all for the evening. Tomorrow I start volunteering at the Zoo :)

Catch Me If You Can....

Hi Loves,
So i've obviously taken a break from blogging. I lost a lot of interest in writing things for a while. Don't get me wrong I was totally still reading all the fabulous blogs. I've decided it's time to get back to blogging though. The last couple of months haven't been all that exciting until recently.
I actually just got back from a 16 day vacation in Hawaii. You see loves, I went to school in Hawaii for 4 years and I decided it was time to go back and visit a few friends. Well the trip started out fantastic, catching up with a good friend, seeing Maui, and getting some sun. Well then we headed over to Oahu for a couple days to see another friend. Again started out good but then went downhill from there. The first night we were in town we through our friend a surprise Bachelorette party as she's getting married next summer. We did a small one while some of us were together and then next summer she'll have another one.
Now here comes the not so great part. I was told we were going camping on the beach. Mind you, I don't mind camping but I'm the girl who camps in campgrounds with tents and bathrooms. Well this camping was up on the North Shore on the beach, no tents, no bathrooms. I wasn't really dressed for camping either. When we first got there we climbed into the back of the people's truck that we went with and I just thought we were going up the road...Nope we ended up going Mudding. I was in a white shirt and khaki shorts! I don't really like being dirty either. This is how I ended up...
Needless to say I wasn't very thrilled. I just went with it though and tried to be a good sport about it. So after mudding we decided to set up "camp" if you can even call it that. Well I had my new Coach Crossbody Bag with me that had all my stuff in it because we were going to go exploring the next morning. I decided (stupidly) to leave it in the trunk thinking it would be safer than on the beach with a whole bunch of people. Well camping started and the boys tried to build a fire but they sucked and never could get a real fire going. I was not having the best of time so I decided to just lay down. Well it started sprinkling, I said we should go but nobody was agreeing with me so we ended up staying the whole night. The next morning we were up as the sun was rising and decided to get going early. We were loading stuff in the trunk and I noticed my purse was gone, then we realized the window was broken. Someone broke into my friends car and stole my purse and a bag of clothes which had my glasses and contacts in it. Loves, I tell you I literally felt like I was having a heart attack. My chest was tight, I couldn't breathe, and I thought life was over. I luckily had my cell phone and called my parents at home quickly to stop all the cards. The people had used one of the cards at a gas station and then they used my Starbucks card but that was it thankfully. However I had like $150 in there so they got that as well. I was just devistated. Needless to say I will never be leaving a purse anywhere or going camping in Hawaii again. The rest of the week in Oahu kind of sucked because I kept having mental breakdowns over my stupidity of leaving my purse. Later in the week we headed back to Maui and spent the next couple days of my trip just relaxing at the beach and the pool. Here's a couple typical Hawaii pictures that show's the trip wasn't all bad...
Maui Sunset at Shark Pit Beach
Delicious Lava Flow
Relaxing in a Hammock at the Marriott
Unfortunately my trip to Hawaii wasn't the trip I had planned but it was great to take a break from home.

Vineyard Vines

Hello Lovelies,
So today while I was working out at the gym the tv's were showing an episode of How I Made My Millions and guess who it was featuring....the boys from Vineyard Vines!!!
Here's the link to watch it:
I had never even heard of Vineyard Vines before coming across it in the blogging world. Now I'm officially in love and unfortunately we don't have any here on the West Coast. I'll just have to catalog/online order and look for it on my trips back East.
I hope everyone is having a great Presidents Day

Day 3 & 4

Day 3: A picture of the cast from your favorite show

My favorite show for a long time has been One Tree Hill (OTH). I've watched it since the first episode and have all the seasons on DVD. If this show were to end I would be lost without it. At first I wasn't too excited that they were taking Lucas and Peyton off but I love the new characters and it's still just as good :)

So because I was busy all day yesterday I'm updating for today too...

Day 4: a picture of your night

It's not really the night quite yet but I already know what I'll be doing...heading to the gym to work out. This week I've gotta get in all my workouts before going on vacation for 2 weeks.

I hope everyone is enjoying their 3 day weekend (if you have one)

Day 2: Bestie & a new quote to live by

Day 2: A picture of you and the person you've been closest with the longest

This is my bestie, Terran (left)! We've been friends since preschool. And the funny thing is, is that our past goes back even further as her mom and my dad grew up living next door to each other. Small world. I love her to death and wouldn't know what to do without her. She has two amazing boys that are my little nephews and I love them to death too. I don't know where life would be without having her around. Here's too many more years to come and life adventures to experience together :)

Quote Time:

I recently just came across this quote and I'm going to make it my current quote to live by because it's so great and so true. "Twenty years from now will you be more dissapointed by the things that you didn't do than by the things you did do?" I need to start living and really experiencing things so that I can have those memories to pass down.

Happy Friday Lovelies,

Heather

Day 1: a picture of yourself

1. I'm an only child. It never used to bother me because I have so many cousins and lots of friends in the neighborhood growing up. However as I get older I really wish that I had siblings.
2. I am totally addicted to Diet Coke. Seriously my day can't function without it. I wake up and that's the first thing I do is grab a Diet Coke. I would love to quit drinking it but I just can't bring myself to do it.
3. I really really really want twins, preferably boy/girl twins, when I get to that stage.
4. I am afraid that I will not be able to have children. Always been a feeling inside me that I've never been able to shake. So I might have to take fertility meds and quite possibly could end up with my dream of twins.
5. If I could go back and redo college, I would hands down go a completely different path than I did.
6. I want to have a relationship with God, read the bible, and go to church but for some reason I just don't know where to start.
7. I wish that I was more of a girly girl. Growing up I never really cared what I looked like and still don't put the effort into myself. I wish someone would just come in and teach me how to be more girly.
8. I want so badly to find an awesome handsome guy to start dating and fall in love. It's been a long time since I've had a relationship and I'm ready for one again.

10. I'm obsessed with shoes. I seriously have over 100 pairs. And still buying.

Holy Huge

So recently I ordered that Lands End Canvas Tote with the Ziptop. I decided to order the Large Size and have my name Monogrammed on it. The whole purpose was to use it for my upcoming trip to Cabo and then to Florida.

Well I just received it in the mail this week and it's HUGE!!!!! I mean HUGE!!! I'm not the smallest of people but this tote is literally half my size. I do like it and it will defanitely be able to fit a lot for the beach, lol. So I highly recommend ordering the medium for anyone looking to get this tote. Ha.

I can't wait for dinner this evening with my family and to open my fabulous gifts :) I've already opened one that arrived via UPS today and it's these....

Shari's Berries!!!! Yum Yum and YUM!!!! My mom started getting them for me a couple years back and it's one of my favs.

Introduction

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. I'm Heather. I will be 26 tomorrow...woohoo (but scary at the same time). I'm new to the whole writing a blog thing. I've been following blogs for a long time and it's such a great community that I thought I would join.
A little catch up on me...
I graduated from the University of Hawaii-Hilo in 2009 with a Bachelor's in Marine Science & Psychology. I've had a few adventures in jobs since including working in Georgia with SeaTurtles. I'm currently back home in Oregon looking for work. It's a hard economy out there and haven't had the best luck. I'm trying to keep my head high and just know that there's a plan out there for me.
On another note...
I love all things preppy, coastal, and southern. I'm obviously not southern but fell in love with it while living in Georgia. I love exploring new things and meeting new people. I can't wait to get more into this blogging world.
That's all for now...
