Friday Randoms

Hi Loves,
Welcome to Friday! I love Fridays. Although today is rainy outside, boo :(.

1. Remember said infection on my face from last post. Yup well it was defanitely a Staph Infection and possibly MRSA but they won't know the strand until the culture comes back in 2 days. They ended up having to drain it out and I get to where this awesome misplaced pirate patch for a couple days.
Don't you wish you could wear this awesome patch? I'm sure you're jealous. Hehe. Could be worse. Luckily we caught it early. Doc said it probably came from the gym towels. So ladies, take your own towels to the gym. I defanitely am from now on.

2. Before all this infection started, I found a recipe in a Trisha Yearwood cookbook for Twice Baked Potatoes. Ladies they were to die for. Here's how they turned out.

3. This is the time of the year I defanitely wish I lived on the East Coast because its horse season. Tomorrow is the Carolina Cup and I so dearly wish I was going.

Sadly I don't live on the East Coast so I will be watching it online. Have a fantastic time and take lots of pictures if you are going.

4. I am completely obsessed with two songs right now. Oddly enough both videos involve Justin Bieber. I love his new song "Boyfriend", I think he sounds so grown up on this track. And then I love "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen. But I love the video that Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, and friends did. My fav part is when Bieber and Selena are just about to kiss then Ashley pulls them apart, so cute. (Click on the links and they will send you to youtube to watch. I'm having issues with embedding the videos for some reason today)

5. And last but not least for this Friday, I finally get to cash in my last Christmas present. On Sunday I'm going to see...

I've been wanting to see this for years so I can't wait. Hopefully I'll be able to take some video or pictures to show you guys.

Well that's all for this Friday. Oh BTW, can you believe that March is already pretty much over? This year is flying by like crazy. Have a fantastic weekend!

Heather

Facial Swelling

Hi Loves,

*This post might be a little TMI but I wanted to mention it so it warns y'all for the future

So I swear as I've gotten older my acne has gotten worse. Now I've never been the best at taking care of my face but I never really had to. Well now it's defanitely catching up to me, unfortunately.

I've always been a picker. Yeah, you know what I mean. Mom always said to keep my hands off my face and I never listened. I always picked at my zits if I had them, thinking they would go away faster. Well when I was younger they defanitely did. Now as I'm in my later 20's my skin is defanitely changing.

I am very allergic to dogs and cats. Last weekend I stayed at my aunt's house with a cousin who was getting up and heading to Italy very early the next morning. Well they have a dog and my face broke out with a couple of hives. I left them alone but then yesterday I noticed a zit formed under one of the hives. Well I picked at it to get the core out. It took a while but I got it out. After that, let me tell you it hurt like nobodies business. Well a little while later I went in the bathroom and to my surprise I had a chipmunk cheek. My cheek was so swollen I couldn't believe it.
See Chipmunk Cheek = not normal

So all day yesterday I was putting and ice pack on it trying to get the swelling to go down. I went to bed last night hoping that this morning my life would be much better and my face would not look like a chipmunk. Well I woke up and my face was still puffy. I showered this morning thinking that maybe that would loosen it up a little bit. Well as I was in the shower I was pushing around the area and a whole bunch of brownish pus came out of it. YUCKO. So sure enough it's infected. This is what it looks like today...
I'm defanitely not going out in public looking like this.

Needless to say, it's pretty painful. I've never had anything like this happen before. I've been putting ice on it, heat on it, and nothing seems to work. So I googled and found a couple at home things to try. Currently I'm wearing a baking soda, sea salt, & water mask on it. It's tingling so hopefully it works.

So my lesson from this whole situation is that I defanitely am leaving my acne alone from now on. I don't want this to happen to me again. I'm pretty sure it's going to leave a nasty scar so I'm on the hunt for acne scarring remedies via Youtube and Pinterest. If you ladies know of anything that might help please do tell. Also what skincare products do y'all use? I'm in the market for new stuff to help my face out.

Take away lesson ladies, keep your hands off your face, FOR REAL!!

Heather

Erin Go Bragh

Happy St. Patricks Day 2012!!!

Erin Go Bragh means Ireland Forever just in case you didn't know. It is defanitely a holiday celebrated in our family because I'm Irish on my Dad's side. I personally can't wait for some delicious family Irish food.

In 2009 for graduation from college I had the pleasure of travelling to Ireland as part of a 3 country trip (Scotland, England, Ireland). It was one of the best experiences of my life. I can't wait to go back with my family some day.

I leave you with an Irish Blessing. This one is one my grandfather has been telling me since I was a wee one.

Frustration Station

My title....that's where I'm at right now. So as y'all know I've been sick and well I've tried to get into the Dr 3 times this week with no luck. Today they told me that I defanitely need to see a Dr but they can't fit me in so I need to go to urgent care. Mind you there was a 6 hour time difference from when I first c alled until they told me there were no appointments. Needless to say I'm a little frustrated, no a lot a bit frustrated!
Due to my sickness I missed a whole week of work. I'm very upset about this because it's a new job and I love it at the same time. My boss understands but at the same time, why couldn't I have gotten sick during spring break when I was already off? Arg. It's hard for me to find a job where I like what I am doing so it's tough for me not to be working since I really enjoy this job. Hopefully I will be getting some meds tomorrow when I go into urgent care and they kick in by Monday.
Not only have I missed work but tonight I was supposed to go to the Casino, tomorrow morning I was supposed to go dress shopping for friends wedding, and then a family gathering to see the newest baby edition to our family tomorrow afternoon. I have to miss all of this because of said sickness. It makes me extremely irritated.
So I'll be spending my Friday night, on the couch watching Say Yes to The Dress and drinking lots of fluids.

Sorry such a depressing post but had to get it out.

Heather

I hate being sick

Hello Loves,
Well it's sad to say but this girl has been down sick in bed since last friday. I had been battling some sickness for about two weeks prior and Friday night while out to dinner with the Momma I started feeling horrible and it hit me like a bus. I've got a darn sinus infection and a cold at the same time. It's quite miserable. I haven't had energy to do anything literally. Taking a shower has even been quite the task. So hoping to feel better soon as I'm supposed to go to the Casino for the night on Friday and then MOH/bridesmaid dress shopping saturday. We will see how things go.
On another note, I'm loving my new job and getting great feedback from it. I wish I wasn't sick so I could be at work this week. In the meantime I've been trying to figure out getting my teaching license and all that good stuff. If you know of any teachers or are one yourself, I would love any tips.
Well until I start feeling better that's all my mind can come up with.

Loves,
Heather

Just an update

Hi Loves,
Well life has been pretty busy since starting work. This past week I worked a full week for an IA that has resigned and they asked me to stay all next week too. I was excited that they liked me enough to stay. It's been some trying days with the kids but I am LOVING it. I think I've finally found what I am supposed to be doing. After such a long time soul searching, I'm glad something is finally presenting itself to me. It's going to be another busy week but I'm excited. I've grown quite attached to the kids I've been working with and they are growing to listen to me which is fantastic.
Since I've really been enjoying this teaching path, I've decided to look into Environmental Education Masters Programs. I've found one in Florida where I don't have to take the GRE. Can you say SCORE!!! Ha. I am really bad at taking tests, always have been my whole life. Well last time I took the GRE it was awful so I'm thankful for a program that doesn't require it. I am just waiting on my information from this program to see if it's going to be the right fit or not. It would defanitely get me back to the East Coast and the South-ish, so that would be fantastic.
And an update on the weight game. I am happy to say that I am down 2 lbs. I realize that's not a huge number but I'm totally happy with it for what I did this last week. It was a trying week so here's to hoping this next week goes better. As long as the scale is going down I am a happy girl :)
If you are debating on going to see The Lorax, I highly recommend it. It was so cute. We only saw it in regular because 3D gives me headaches. If you can go to 3D I would recommend it. There were parts where you could defanitely tell it was meant for 3D.
Today was a gorgeous day outside, which is rare for this time of the year. I wanted to get outside and enjoy it but I still am fighting a cold so I stayed in bed most the day and just looked out the window. Tomorrow it's supposed to go back to raining and then possible snow Tuesday again. On the note of weather, I want to send out thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the recent tornados. I've had family and friends who were hit by tornados in the past so I've heard first hand accounts of how scary they can be. I just hope and pray that families can move on past this devastation and that the storms stay away.
     Until next time,
Heather
